Who I Am
I’m Rebecca, the author of Writing to the Child and a social worker dedicated to transforming how professionals communicate with children. Having worked on the frontline in children’s social care, I saw first-hand how the language we use can either create safety or deepen fear, confusion and shame.
My own assessments were described by Ofsted as “amazing and trauma-informed”, and I began developing practical tools, such as the STREAM™ and ARC frameworks to help others write in ways that honour the child's story.
Too often, professional writing becomes technical, rushed and adult-centred. Children eventually read these documents, and the words we use shape their memories, their identity and their future.
Writing to the Child was born from a simple belief:
Every child deserves emotionally safe language.
This work gives professionals the clarity, confidence and tools to write with humanity, not just accuracy.
My work is grounded in:
I specialise in helping schools, social workers, health teams and multi-agency partners rewrite their assessments, records and reports from the child’s perspective.
